Whale Whatching

From June to November, a spectacular phenomenon takes place on the southern coast. Hundreds of baleen whales leave the cold waters of Patagonia and come to give birth and nurse their young along the coast of Santa Catarina. The region that goes from Içara to Florianópolis was transformed into a large area of environmental protection for these mammals, which can reach 17 meters long and weigh 5 tons. Whales are often seen more frequently in Imbituba and Garopaba.
