Águas de Chapecó

Bathed by the rivers Uruguai and Chapecó, the municipality of Águas de Chapecó is one of the main touristic destinations of Grande Oeste, owing to its thermal water resorts with therapeutic properties. The first springs were discovered in 1896, when the colonization was started by Italian descendants coming from Rio Grande do Sul. The main attraction of the town is the Parque Hidroeste (Hydrowest Park), whose waters have an average temperature of 37° C.

Parque Hidroeste (Companhia Hidromineral do Oeste Catarinense) (Hydromineral Company of West Santa Catarina)
A hydrothermal aquatic park on the banks of the Rio Chapecó (Chapecó River), with swimming pools (semi-olympic, covered and children’s) and hydro massage baths. It also has a space for parties, covered barbecue pits and an area for camping. Besides enjoying the relaxing and therapeutic properties of the thermal waters of the park, the visitor can also go on a jet ski, take a boat trip and fish in the Rio Chapecó. October thru April, daily, from 8am to 11:30am and from 1:30pm to 7:30pm; other months, daily, from 7:30am to 11:30am and from 1:30pm to 5:30pm.

Caxambu do Sul

The Festa Estadual da Melancia (State Watermelon Festival) and the Festa de São Jerônimo (Saint Geronimo Feast), the patron saint of the town, are among the main touristic attractions of Caxambu do Sul, together with the typical Italian cuisine and the handicraft products made with crochet, knitting, painting and embroidery. Do not fail to visit the Pequeno Bosque (Small Wood), in the Center, and the viewpoints of São Félix (Saint Felix) and Bairro Antena (Antenna District), which have a beautiful view towards the Rio Uruguai (River Uruguai).
