Araranguá

Ecotourism and shopping are the two main attractions of Araranguá, a town colonized by Azorean, Italian, German and Afro-Brazilian descendants. The central region of the city has wide avenues and excellent commerce, including bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Heading toward the coast, the highlights include the beaches, lakes, dunes, sandbars, caves and the falls from the Rio Araranguá (Araranguá River). One of the most beautiful postcards from the South of Brazil is in this region: the Morro dos Conventos. At various sites, nature provides perfect conditions to practice hang gliding, sandboarding and off-roading, as well as scheduled horseback riding trips to the Parque Aparados da Serra (Aparados da Serra Park).
