Blumenau

The main economic and touristic region of the Vale do Itajaí, Blumenau is internationally known for the Oktoberfest. The largest German festival in the Americas, which has taken place in October since 1984, attracts approximately 600 thousand visitors each time. The traces of the German culture can be appreciated in the centenary buildings of Alpine and timber frame architecture, the art, the handicraft, the rich gastronomy and in other festivals which animate the city. Buildings in colonial style, well-cared for streets and gardens full of flowers can also be admired in trips through the central region or in the enchanting communities of the municipality, as Vila Itoupava. But the city does not preserve merely its culture: 68% of the territory of Blumenau is covered by the Atlantic Rainforest, with refreshing waterfalls and trails. There are many options for accommodation and you also have at your disposal an excellent infrastructure of trade and services.
