Brusque

Brusque is a well-known destination for purchasing articles of bed, table, bath and clothing. Its large textile park, which comes from the weaving introduced by the Polish immigrants, is only one of the highlights of the municipality. Religion, architecture, gastronomy and the festivities gather together the influences of the Italian and, mainly, German immigrants. The typical dish of the town is wild duck with red cabbage, a recipe of German influence which even gained its own festival: the Fenarreco. The confectionery shops and bakeries of the town are well-known for their sweetmeats of German origin spiced with national seasoning, as the cake covered with manioc flour and banana. Furthermore, Brusque houses the second most important Catholic sanctuary in the state, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Azambuja.
