Guaramirim

With an economy based on agricultural and livestock, Guaramirim preserves with fondness the customs and traditions of the German. Portuguese and Italian colonizers. Among its attractions the Alternative Rock Festival, which gathers together bands from the South and Southeastern regions of Brazil, and the Instituto Rã-Bugio para Conservação da Biodiversidade (Frog-Howler Monkey Institute for Conservation of Biodiversity), which executes scientific research aiming to preserve these amphibians.

Estação Rodoferroviária (Coach Terminal/Railroad Station)
The old railroad station, of modernist architecture, is today integrated with the town coach terminal. In the Praça dos Expedicionários (Expeditionary Square), attached to the place, there is a monument to the inhabitants of Guaramirim who took part in the 2nd World War.

Morro da Santa (Saint’s Hill)
The Christian Sacred Way is represented along the 230 steps of the stairway giving access to the top of the hill. At the top, there is a chapel dedicated to Our Lady who Appeared is an imposing cross fastened in the place with a beautiful panoramic view of all the region.


Igreja dos Imigrantes (Immigrants’ Church)
Founded in 1886 by the immigrant pioneers of the region, it delimits the cradle of the colonization of Guaramirim.

Parque Aquático Recanto dos Lagos (Lakes Retreat Aquatic Park)
The attractions include swimming pools for adults and children with waterslides, lagoons for fishing, volleyball court, indoor soccer pitch, lawn bowling court, snooker tables, kiosks with barbecue pits, snack bar and restaurant. December thru February, daily, from 8:30am to 7pm. October, November and March, Saturday, Sunday and holiday, from 8:30am top 7pm. On Monday, it opens as of 9:30am.
