Indaial

The cultural heritage left by the German and Italian immigrants stands out in this town of wide and clean streets, flowery gardens and wooden bridges. In the rural area, the houses with timber frame architecture and the face brick chapels draw one’s attention. The fifth richest town in the Vale Europeu it is also the destination of business tourism, with the great development of the textile, metallurgical, equipment and food sectors. Indaial also integrates the National Immigration Routes, with monuments as the Chapel Our Lady of Perpetual Aid.

Arch Bridge
Dated from 1926, it was the first reinforced concrete bridge erected over the Rio Itajaí-Açu. Renovated in 1988, it gained two side footbridges. Center.

Fundação Indaialense de Cultura (FIC)
Better known as the Cultural Center, is situated at the top of the Morro Schulenburg (Schulenburg Hill) and houses the Historical Archives and Public Library of Indaial, besides artistic workshops. The house from the start of the 20th century is surrounded by a wood of native and exotic plants, transformed into a municipal public park. Monday thru Friday, from 8am to 12pm and from 1:30pm to 5:30pm.

Historical Neighbordhoods and Typical Locations


Warnow
Locality at less than 10 km from the Center, it preserves the first timber frame houses of the settlement occurring in 1860. It contains the headquarters of the oldest shooting society in Santa Catarina. In this community there are also two monuments listed by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN): the suspension bridge and covered wooden bridge, over the Warnow Stream.

Duwe House
Built between 1935 and 1940, the timber frame building was listed by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN).
