Luís Alves is one of the most traditional producers of rum in the state and the country. Since the start of colonization by Italian, German and Portuguese immigrants, the excess production of sugarcane (used for brown sugar) was used in the production of white rum. Today, various stills continue to produce the famous national drink handmade or industrially. In the beautiful rural landscape there are waterfalls, grottos with images of saints and the St. Vincent de Paul Parish Church, an imposing structure built in the middle of the Atlantic Forest.
