Porto Belo

Porto Belo is a small paradise snuggled into the coast of Santa Catarina. The city maintains the bucolic atmosphere of a fishing village in the middle of natural scenery with great beauty, with beaches and crystalline water, sheltered bays, islands and preserved vegetation. The peaceful town colonized by Azoreans is transformed in the high seasons, with bustling beaches, restaurants and floating bars. Boat trips, nautical sports and diving are among the main tourist activities. At Ilha de Porto Belo, for example, you can venture along underwater trails that reveal the abundant marine life in the region. At other locations, such as the Morro dos Zimbros Reserve, there are trails through the Atlantic Forest where you can see birds and animals threatened with extinction, such as the collared anteater. The Ecomuseum is also a must-see, with whale carcasses and ancient mammal fossils.
