São Carlos

Colonized in the 1920’s by German descendants coming from the Vale do Taquari (RS), the municipality preserves the German culture in the architecture of its buildings, the religious rites and the gastronomy. The Balneário de Pratas (Pratas Resort) is one of the main touristic attractions, as well as the beaches at the edge of the rivers Chapecó and Uruguai.

Complex on the banks of the Rio Uruguai, with hotels, family hostel, area for camping, barbecue pits, pavilions for events and a large leisure infrastructure, including a semi-olympic swimming pool and another covered one, showers and baths with thermal waters. Other options are fishing or bathing at the artificial beach of the Rio Uruguai. Near the SC-283.

Colonized by Germans, Cunhataí preserves the German traditions in the customs and traditions of its population. It is common to hear even today German in the town streets. The Igreja Matriz Nossa Senhora da Salete (Parish Church Our Lady of Salete) and the municipality emancipation festival (September) are its main attractions.
